AQUAMARK, INC. has successfully dewatered alum sludge from a municipal drinking water plant using geo textile tubes. The alum sludge is pumped into the geo tubes and polymer is injected into the fill line. The clear filtrate is allowed to drain leaving high consistency solids in the geo tube for disposal. If the municipal waste treatment plant is having difficulties handling the solids generated during the process of producing drinking water these Geo Tubes are a very inexpensive and quick way to dewater the solids. Here are some advantages to dewatering the sludge this way;
1) Geo textile tubes are capable of handling almost any flow rate. If you want to dewater at 500 gpm or 5,000 gpm no problem.
2) Given enough time the geo textile tube will produce the driest solids possible. Reducing haul off costs.
3) Much lower cost compared to other technologies available.
4) Variable solids loading variable flow rates again no problem.

5) This is an environmentally friendly way to dewater solids.
These Geo tubes can be set up almost anywhere and the solids are pumped to them for dewatering. The clear water is allowed to discharge to any permissible discharge point. No permanent building or equipment installation is required. The tubes can even be laid out in existing drying beds.
